To ensure that the ethos and message of elementalLONDON are fully aligned to the needs and interests of the industry audience, which covers a wide range of sectors, we are assembling an Advisory Board to help guide and inform our development of the show and its content.
This board, which will be finalised shortly, consists of senior figures and influential voices from across the various spaces, so that sector-specific issues and common concerns are all included.
At the same time, we will be convening working groups from specific areas of the audience to help develop our content programmes.
Board members announced so far include…
Rachael Owens
Co-Director, National Retrofit Hub
Rachael is Co-Director at the National Retrofit Hub and Head of Sustainability at Buckley Gray Yeoman, and a member of the Architects Climate Action Network, where she coordinates the Climate Literacy group. Rachael sits on the New London Architecture (NLA) Net Zero expert panel and is also part of the LETI non-domestic retrofit commercial workstream. In 2021 she was named a RIBA Journal Rising Star for her work in practice to communicate sustainable design and within ACAN to campaign for the regulation of embodied carbon emissions. Rachael was also named AJ100 Sustainability Leader of the Year 2024 by the Architect’s Journal for her impactful work.
Dr Zainab Dangana
Head, Sustainable Technology Services, Wates Group
As the Head of Sustainable Technology at Wates Group, Zainab leads and implements the company’s sustainability strategy and vision across all its projects and operations. She has over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, with a strong focus on sustainable innovation and delivering net-zero building transformation. Her core competencies include engaging with external stakeholders, developing and executing action plans, and motivating and empowering a positive culture of change within the organisation. She is passionate about building a greener, more sustainable world.
Dr Mike Pitts
Lead, Net Zero Heat programme, Innovate UK
Dr Mike Pitts leads Innovate UK’s Net Zero Heat programme and is the Deputy Challenge Director for Transforming Construction. He was previously Head of Urban Systems at Innovate UK, covering the priority areas of Urban Living and Smart Infrastructure. He joined Innovate UK in 2012 to lead on embedding sustainability across Innovate UK’s strategy and has run programmes on cleantech, resource efficiency and environmental data.
Jon Allgood
Head of Asset Management, Seaforth Land Holdings
Jon joined Seaforth in 2022 as Head of Asset Management after 20+ years at The Crown Estate where, as Senior Asset Manager, he was responsible for the office element of their 10m sq ft Central London Portfolio. He has extensive experience in commercial design development and leasing including major projects such as The Marq, St James’s Market, The New Burlingtons & 20 Air Street.
He is an industry expert in the future of the office, new ways of working and improving end user experience within real estate. This led to him driving The Crown Estate’s move into cowork and flex leasing products such as 1 Heddon Street. He is also passionate about sustainability and lessening our negative impact on the environment both personally and corporately.
Jon is a board member of the British Council for Offices, alumnus of the Real Innovation Academy, has PgDip in real estate valuation & Law from Bayes Business School, and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Jacqui Bateson
Non Executive Director, EastEndHomes Ltd
Jacqui has had a portfolio career spanning financial services and social housing. With experience in diverse industries, Jacqui has always had a lens on the end consumer, focusing on ensuring they are listened to with empathy and responded to appropriately. Jacqui has met the challenges of digital transformation, taking organisations on a journey to create growth through commercial opportunities. She has worked within the social housing sector as a non-executive director, understanding the regulatory challenges and governance requirements, as well as working with the sector professionally in the procurement, social value, data and sustainability spaces.
Jacqui is a keen advocate of the housing sector, continuing to bring new thinking and drive innovation to create greater positive impact for residents.
Ken Hunnisett
Head of Clean Heat, Triple Point Heat Networks Investment Management
Ken has spent the last 25 years in asset and infrastructure finance. A passionate advocate for the role investment needs to play in driving out place-based inequalities, Ken is the Head of Clean Heat at Triple Point, the purpose-driven Investment Manager and certified B-Corp that understands the role thoughtfully deployed private capital can play in solving society’s biggest challenges.
Ken leads a multi-disciplinary team of in-house energy infrastructure experts and external professionals, all with deep low-carbon district heating specialisms.
His team was the delivery partner to the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero for their Heat Network Investment Project, a £320m fund to accelerate the growth in district heating development and is now partnering with Government again, in managing the Government’s recently extended flagship capital grant programme, the Green Heat Network Fund.
Emma Fletcher
Low Carbon Housing Director, Octopus Energy
Emma is the Low Carbon Housing Director at Octopus Energy. Her career has centred on leading high impact, high innovation projects in real estate, with a particular focus on housing, energy performance and green energy production. Her practical experience includes starting her career in rural surveying and estate management moving into award-winning housing and regeneration developments.
Emma is a passionate advocate for change, community resilience and sustainability solutions for all. She established and led the UK’s first fossil fuel-free district heating scheme in her village, Swaffham Prior. Her work regularly features in trade, national and international press & media.
James Bursnall
Alliance Director, CBRE
James has a track record of managing fully integrated facilities for high profile top tier clients such as Unilever, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, PayPal, BP and most recently M&G. He thrives on quickly identifying and delivering impactful positive change shaping some of the workplaces of some of the world’s most recognised brands. A background in luxury hotels and working across the globe with various Formula 1 teams has equipped James with an exceptional hospitality mindset and an forensic eye for detail.
Qualifications include NEBOSH, IWFM Level 4, ILM 5 and Intermediate Food Safety amongst others.
Yvonne Orgill
Managing Director, Unified Water Label
Yvonne Orgill has almost 40 years’ experience in the UK bathroom Industry and is well recognised as a leader and influencer. She held the position of Chief Executive of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) from 2006 to 2019. Yvonne is currently MD at the Unified Water Label and a non-exec board member of BIKBBI, President of CIPHE – Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineers, as well as first female chairperson of NHIC and the NHIC Trustees.
Janet Smith
Head of Sustainability, The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust & Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust
Janet is the Head of Sustainability for the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. She joined the NHS in 2003, following 15 years of managing United Nations-funded health and development projects in the Philippines. Her expertise in community and sustainable development has led to consultancies with international organizations, including the World Bank’s Economic Development Institute and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
At the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Janet has collaborated with clinicians, service users, health professionals, and external advisors to implement various initiatives, including the 2010 Carbon Management Plan, which achieved a 14% reduction in the Trust’s carbon footprint by 2015. She authored and oversaw the implementation of the Trust’s Green Plan and Climate Change Impact Adaptation Plan.
Dr Bola Abisogun OBE
Founder and Chief Excitement Officer, Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC
As the Founder and Chief Excitement Officer of the ‘game-changing’ socio-economic vehicle for change, aka the Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC, and AIQS Limited, Dr Abisogun maintains an over-arching intention to disrupt the established norms via his industry initiative #PQS2030. His intention is to deploy digital twins into ‘regulated professional services’ with a USP in Construction Cost Management and an unapologetic focus on cultural and procedural change.
Dr Abisogun was engaged and appointed to sit on the Gemini Council at the Centre for Digital Built Britain, is a longstanding Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and an eminent Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He is also the Founder and Chairman of DiverseCity Surveyors (DCS), and sits on a host of boards across the industry. He works extensively with the Mayor of London and the GLA, and recently received an Honorary Doctor of the University, DUniv (from LSBU) and an Honorary MBA (from UCEM). In the 2019 New Years Honours list, Dr Abisogun was awarded an OBE for Services to Diversity and to Young People in the Construction Industry.
Stuart Young
Head of Stakeholder Management, Construction Unit, Department for Business and Trade
Stuart is Head of Stakeholder Engagement and Management for the DBT Construction Unit and the Communications Director for the Construction Leadership Council’s Construct Zero Programme. Stuart also oversees the relationship between the CLC and DBT as a joint Government/sector council, including providing advice to various workstreams
Stuart works across industry and key Government Departments, supporting the voice of the sector across Government.
