The first Get Retro Fit webinar, in partnership with the National Retrofit Hub (NRH), has been announced.
The year-long programme of webinars and digital content starting next month – and leading up to the inaugural elementalLONDON show in November 2025 – will kick off with a session on the DESNZ funded Demonstration of Energy Efficiency Potential (DEEP) domestic retrofit research project, led by Leeds Beckett University.
The session will be hosted by National Retrofit Hub’s Rachael Owens, who will be joined by Professor David Glew, Director of the Leeds Sustainability Institute. Register for your FREE place here: crowdcast.io/c/nrhdeepretrofit
DEEP was an in-depth analysis of the retrofit of solid walled homes. The project delivered 41 fabric retrofits in 14 different homes and conducted monitoring and testing before and after measures were installed. The project also tested the effectiveness of PAS 2035, comparing the outcomes of retrofits that did and did not follow the PAS process and requirements. The project asked five key questions:
- What are the most effective retrofits for solid walled homes?
- How can technical risks be reduced when retrofitting solid walled homes?
- How can building energy model inputs and moisture risk assessments be improved?
- What are the procedural implications for achieving the whole house approach to retrofit?
- Are measurements of retrofit technical performance robust?
During this webinar Professor Glew will discuss balancing risk, cost and benefit when retrofitting solid walled homes, and give insights on how to develop retrofit strategies that tackle existing risks that non-retrofitted homes face. He will explore some of the resulting improvements in EPC ratings, heat loss, moisture risk, overheating and airtightness measured in the test projects. We will also touch on the measured performance gap within EPCs.
This session will include a presentation and discussion with National Retrofit Hub co-director Rachael Owens, and audience Q&A.
