Pump and water technology specialist Grundfos has launched an ambitious initiative that seeks to inspire new thinking in energy efficiency.

The Explore NEXT campaign will look to collaborate with its most innovative and creative customers at all levels in a bid to help ‘reimagine and optimise the design, installation, and operation of HVAC and water systems’.

The manufacturer noted that there is a huge challenge ahead, as HVAC and water systems in buildings currently consume a staggering 40% of the world’s energy.

The company said:

Grundfos, with its wealth of expertise and innovative solutions, firmly believes that collaboration is essential. We have invited valued customers to join forces and collaborate in order to innovate and develop new skills, technologies, tools, and ways of working that will help achieve the shared goal of saving 53.5TWh in energy

However, relying solely on existing solutions won’t suffice, Grundfos stressed, saying it is “time to think bigger, move faster, and revolutionise the way we approach HVAC and water systems”.

The first step will be the Grundfos Truck Tour, which is hitting the roads of from August onwards, visiting major cities in the UK and northern Europe and will showcase the latest technology, software, and tools in HVAC and water innovations.

Visitors will be invited to participate in a hackathon with the manufacturer in a bid to visualise the future. The Explore NEXT truck will be visiting Manchester on 5th September; Birmingham on 6th September; Bristol on 8th September; and London on 13th September.

Bent Jensen, Divisional Chief Executive of Commercial Building Services at Grundfos, said:

We will gather the finest installers and engineers across Europe. Those working with HVAC and water systems daily—the individuals who will implement the solutions created through collaboration.

The culmination of the European tour will be an innovation hack hosted by Grundfos at its headquarters in Bjerringbro. This event will bring together development specialists, major customers and partners.
