HEART Academies Trust has announced a new partnership with Value Match.

This joint sustainability and procurement services is open to the UK public sector, accessible through the shared services tender. Additionally, single supplier frameworks and a sustainable and ethical dynamic purchasing system (DPS) are provided.

The partnership will include:

  • driving positive environmental, social and economic impact;
  • delivering sustainable procurement – helping the public sector make responsible choices today, so the planet remains habitable, diverse and prosperous for generations to come;
  • ensuring an ethical supply chain, with suppliers that meet obligations and best practices in relation to social value, climate and human rights.

Paul Edmond, CFO, HEART Academies Trust, said:

During the pandemic we took time to reflect on the vision, values and aspirations that guide our work. To deliver our mission we felt it necessary to look beyond our traditional role. If the purpose of education is to prepare and equip children and young people with the knowledge and skills they need to contribute into a thriving society, we agreed HEART must ensure that how we operate is consistent with building a healthier more sustainable future. The development of our partnership with Value Match is an important new way of working.

David Shields, CEO at Value Match, said:

Working with HEART Academies Trust to support the reduction of negative impact for future generations is a real privilege. The focus on ensuring positive and sustainable impact on the services we provide aligns with the Value Match belief that procurement must be a lever for the change we want to experience. By incorporating a focus on significantly improving societal impact into our approach, and working collaboratively across sectors at scale, we can accelerate that positive impact for customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Working together we want to ensure everything we buy and every supplier we work with makes a positive contribution to people and planet.

To date almost £5m savings have been achieved by the schools Value Match has worked with.
