RICS has opened a public consultation into its Residential Retrofit Standard.
The consultation will run until 12th September.
The new standard will provide a framework for a consistently high level of service for consumers by suitably qualified, independent professionals and will complement other services already being provided, including home surveys and secured lending valuations.
The standard covers residential property retrofit services for any roles likely to be undertaken by RICS members and for clients likely to commission such services. Clients will vary from owners of large housing estates and blocks of flats and tenements to single-home owners. Some of the work may be publicly funded, some will be funded privately, possibly with the assistance of a mortgage lender.
RICS wants to know if the draft standard is easy to understand, if the structure is clear, if there is anything technically missing that should be included, and any other general feedback.
